HARRINGTON I hate to use the line from ‘identity politics’ or anything, but when we do some of the, pretty much propaganda, but it’s not in the negative sense of propaganda. Anything that we put out to change peoples’s minds in essence is propaganda. But showing other ethnicities or people groups out there hunting would encourage that to be a part of just who we are as Arkansans. By diverse, I assume you mean people of color, women, different cultures. I want everybody in the game, and I believe that being intentional will only help the industry because then you have a larger cross-section of people. I think the barrier to entry, at least the perceived barrier in terms of the cost of your hunting tools, your clothes, location … The educational barrier to entry also is higher.
“As we transition into cooler weather, you should start to downsize your artificial baits,” says Capt. Billy (RedfishTails.com is his website). “It will become more effective as the weather keeps cooling. Go from fishing your favorite 4-inch swim-bait or paddle-tail to a 3-incher. Or change your 4-inch shrimp-style bait to a 3-inch. Finally, if the water is your favorite field of play, you’ll find plenty to enjoy. Stow Lake is a 12-acre, doughnut-shaped body of water that hosts rowboats, pedal boats and whisper-quiet electric motor boats that can be rented by the hour.
But keeping the top three to five catches to be filleted is certainly easy enough. Fischer undoubtedly had never seen such a trick as adding weights to the catch, but he was a tournament fisherman and knew the five walleye Runyan weighed in on Friday were far too short to tip the scales at 33-plus pounds. Fischer is well-respected as the tournament director of the LEWT, especially after finally catching the cheaters, despite how long it took. Fischer apologized publicly to the LEWT fishing family, a tight-knit group, for not getting the job done earlier, and was praised for doggedly continuing to investigate the pair. All of the ingredients have to be on the fishing boat in order to be ready to do that, which confirms the anglers plotted and planned their cheating. My very first research project was at UAPB, and I built a laser device to measure the muddiness of water.
What I’ve loved about the campaign is being able to go out and travel the state and really explore. Anytime I can pull aside and enjoy the public lands, I think it’s helpful. With enough funding, they could offer hunters free boxes of non-lead ammunition and study whether the switch could help offset the number of raptors killed by wind-turbine blades. Numerous citations were issued and quite a few birds were seized in an effort to educate hunters about the season closure in the central zone. Fall fishing pressure remains high with warm weather and active bites. CO Jake Swedberg spent the week checking migratory bird hunters and small game hunters. With the cold weather moving in, many ducks have started moving through the area. Many hunters checked over the weekend had a very successful hunt, and many different species were seen.
CO Nicholas Prachar reports steady grouse hunting activity in the area. Enforcement action was taken for transporting loaded firearms, allowing illegal hunting practices by juveniles and for juveniles on an ATV with no helmets. Efforts at persuasion are showing results across the West.
Jig for bluefish and Spanish mackerel on the end of the pier, or bottom fish for a red drum in the surf zone. Novice anglers love to feel and reel in feisty fish. Intermediate fisherman can target this wide variety. The pier fishing fee covers your license for the day. CO Jacob Willis fielded complaints regarding hunting from the road and timber-harvesting issues.
Holt attended training at Camp Ripley and investigated a TIP complaint. Enforcement action involved hunting license violations. CO Jayson Hansen patrolled state parks and checked anglers, big-game and waterfowl hunters, boaters and ATV riders. Numerous game and fish-related questions were answered. CO Kylan Hill spent the week field training COC Ledeen.
What I love, there’s a group of hunters that donate the meat . Whether it’s Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry or making sure people know you can do your own hunting and fishing to provide food for yourself. CO Tony Elwell continued to monitor small-game and waterfowl-hunting activity.
